Dilip kumar whose real name is Yusuf Khan is one of the finest actor Indian Cinema can ever have. He is also known as The Tragedy King. He is a class personified — full of dignity who was born to a dry fruit merchant.He got chance in Bollywood with the help of Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai (owner of Bombay Talkies).
His first movie which came to floor was Bombay Talkies’ Jwar Bhata. It didn't do great at box office. He was basically recognized with his third film Milan released in 1946. After this his career spanned till 50 years with his last release Qila in 1998.
His all the work is masterpiece in itself but some which was appreciated by most of his fans were Andaz (1949) in which he worked with Raj Kapoor,
Bimal Roy's Devdas another memorable work by Dilip Sahab with Suchitra Sen and Vyjayanthimala,Naya Daur (1957) which got him commercial and critical success. This movie was also in news for director B.R. Chopra taking legal action against actress Madhubala for backing out from Naya Daur.Herbreakup with Dilip made compelled her to leave the movie. Love in olden days were pasionate isn't it??
Heart stealing performace which owed many applaudes was Prince Salim in Mughal-e-Azam (1960) which broke all records.
Ganga Jamuna was the first movie produced by him.
Ram Aur Shyam (1967) was another hit movie added to his pocket. After Bairaag in year 1976 this great legend took a long sabatical.
He did his comeback with Manoj Kumar's Kranti in 1981. He played Sanjay Dutt's father in Subash Ghai's Vidhaata and joined Amitabh Bachchan in Ramesh Sippy's Shakti winning the Filmfare Best Movie Award. He did Subash Ghai's Karma (1986).
The year 1991 saw Dilip Kumar in Saudagar with Rajkumar. He was seen again in Qila (1998) which is his last movie to date. He played a negative role.

Dilip Kumar has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1994) and Nishan-e-Pakistan by the Pakistani Government in 1998. He entered politics in 2000 and was a Member of Parliament.
Dilip Kumar received the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Daag, Azaad, Devdas, Naya Daur, Kohinoor, Leader, Ram Aur Shyam and Shakti. He was the first actor who won the Filmfare Best Actor Award. He also had a record number of nominations and wins. He won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993.

On personal front Dilip Sahab's first fling was Kamini Kaushal from film Arzoo. Then came the beautiful, lively, giggly Madhubala with her million-dollar smile. But Madhu Mam's dad interference led to their breakup.
Finally Dilip Kumar got married at the age of 45 to filmstar Saira Banu.
Celebrity marriages are never a straight road it always has curves and holes. Dilip Kumar too got entangled in a controversial love affair plus marriage with Asma, a Pakistani lady. It does tarnished his image. But after learning that she is in touch with her ex-husband and is leaking out the news to the press they separated. And finally Saira and Dilip reconciled again.
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu doesn't have their own kid but their romance is endless. They still love and care for each other. Saira Banu has mentioned in one of her interviews that she fell in love with Dilip Kumar when she was 12 years old.
